For decades, dentists have been offering patients the benefits of dental implants. Unlike traditional treatments of crowns, bridges, root canals and dentures, dental implants offer a permanent solution for missing teeth. If you are missing one or more teeth and wish to eat your favorite foods, increase your chewing ability and improve your appearance, speech and self-esteem, then you are a candidate for dental implants. A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and is made from surgical-grade titanium aloy to exacting specifications.
It is very important that the correct type of Implant is placed. At Hockley Dental Laboratory & Surgery we use different types of Implants to suit each patient's mouth unlike some surgeries who may use only one type of Implants. Dental implants can give you back the smile you've lost, or the smile you've always wanted. You will no longer be embarrassed in conversation or while smiling and laughing. You will eat lettuce, apples, steak and even corn on the cob with confidence! Only a dental implant can replace the root of a missing tooth. If the root is not replaced, bone loss will occur resulting in undesirable consequences such as an ill-fitting denture. Implants eliminate the need for sticky denture adhesives and even for dentures themselves. Dental implants offer a permanent solution that will not decay. The Procedure :- The placement of a dental implant is typically completed in less than an hour, as an office procedure with only local anesthesia. Post-operative discomfort is normally less than that of a tooth extraction

What is a Dental Implant?
A Dental Implant is an artifical tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental Implants are an ideal option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to decay, disease or an injury. It is not always necessary to use one Implant for each missing tooth. You can have Implants placed with a Bridge to avoid drilling healthy natural teeth.
What are the advantages of Dental Implants?
- A long term solution for missing teeth.
-
No need for drilling natural teeth, as would be the case for a Bridge.
-
Eliminates discomfort caused by a wobbly Denture - Full or Partial.
-
Natural looking teeth.
-
Stabilises a loose Denture.
-
Improves your self esteem and general well being enabling you to eat and smile confidently.
Is having Dental Implants painful?
Placing an Implant is a gentle procedure usually carried out under local anaesthetic, much like when having a filling, After Implant placement most patients experience little discomfort after the anaesthetic has worn off and this is controlled by normal pain killers. There is no need to go without any teeth whilst treatment is carried out, we will ensure any gaps are filled with temporary teeth.
